DIY Autumn Decor

Hey guys, so today I am doing something a bit different.  I did do a DIY Christmas decorations last year.  I would like to say none of these are my ideas, I found them all on Pinerest.  I really love DIY, so I thought I would share some of my favourite one’s with you guys.  Yes today I am doing

DIY Autumn Decor

1- Cute Jarmoss and fairy lights - Google Search

I didn’t know what to call this one but I saw it on Pinterest and just fell in love.

You Will Need

  • Mason Jar (or a normal jar it doesn’t matter)
  • Christmas/Fairy lights (battery powered)
  • Pine cones

How to Make it

  1. Place half of the pine cones inside the jar
  2. Turn the lights on and put them inside the jar like the photo shows
  3. Put the remaining pine cones inside the jar cover up the battery pack

2-  Candle HolderLiving Room Christmas Decorations- would like to do for those used Yankee Candle jars....perfect reuse and recycle

This is so cute and is really easy to make, and who doesn’t lover candles, and when you add an adorable candle holder, it is two times better.

You Will Need

  • Any cup
  • Sticks
  • Glue (preferably glue gun)

How to Make it

  1. Take your cup and begin sticking sticks to it
  2. After all sticks are on the cup leave out till fully dry
  3. Place your favourite candle inside

You when you were in art class in the fourth grade, yeah lets go back in time and remember all the shitty times we all had in primary school.  This DIY is inspired by that.

You Will Need

  • A fake pumpkin
  • Crayons 
  • Hair dryer 

How to Make it

  1. Line all your crayons on the top of the pumpkin, you can choose rainbow or different shades of orange, or green.  whatever you want
  2. Take your hair dryer and use it to slowly melt your crayons.  Make sure your have a layer of new paper or something so you don’t ruin a table

4- Glitter PumpkinGlitter Pumpkins - Can't wait for fall! You better believe I'm going to have tons of glittery pumpkins outside my door!!

So everyone know how messy glitter gets.  The only reason I put this on the list was so if one of you guys has more patience then me and can handle this.

You Will Need

  • Fake pumpkin
  • Any colour of glitter
  • Glue

How to Make it

  1. Cover the pumpkin with glue in the spots you want to have glitter on
  2. Have news paper or something you can catch access glitter with
  3. Pour glitter over the pumpkin until fully covered
  4. Pick up the pumpkin until all access glitter is off

7 Christmas DIY’s

Hey guys, its Maddie.  Today I’m bringing you the first day of 12 days of MyObscrueChristmas!  Today I have for you “10 Christmas DIY’s”, I hope you enjoy!

Christmas DIY’s


1.) Christmas Mug!christmas-diy-1

So for the first DIY is a cute mug that you can use all year around or just for the

All you will need is:

*a plain white or black mug

*Christmas colours such as pale pink, blue and green if you have a white mug or colours like bright green, pink and blue if your mug is black

*White or black depending on which colour you mug is

*A paint brush, (fine point) 

All you need to do is:

*paint, using a fine point brush, triangle shaped trees starting from the bottom of the mug like the photo to your right.  

*Add in white or black dots inside the trees.  

And there your christmas DIY mug is complete and ready for you to use!

These make great gifts and you can always keep them for yourself!  Make a bunch or different ones to get you in the holiday spirit!



2.)  Christmas Tree Napkins!a1ae4fe916b8b00f4229577f4415f046

This DIY is adorable and easy, and all you dinner guest will love them!

You will need:

*Green napkins

*Yellow card board or paper 

*A small piece of wood

*A piece of christmas themed or normal string

How to do it:

*Follow the folding instructions to you right

*Tie a piece of string around the piece of wood and tuck in it the bottom of the napkin

*Cut out a star using the yellow card board or paper

*Place the star at the top of the tree

And just like that you have the best, and cutest napkins of the season!  This is one of my favourite Christmas DIY’s one my list for this season.

This is defiantly the easiest DIY on the list, and its also really cute.

You need:

*Candy canes

*Hot glue gun



How to make it:

*First using the hot glue gun, with parental supervision if you are young, glue together three candy canes as it shows in the photo to your right

*Tie the top of the candy canes together with a piece of string

*place a place card at the bottom of the candy canes

This is once again something you dinner guest will notice and love, its simply and easy.  Plus after dinner you can eat the candy cane with some hot chocolate!



4.)  Let it Snow Scrabble Ornament

anymore, well with this
DIY ornament you can finally put those pieces to use.  This ornament is very cute and you don’t just have to spell out let it snow you can spell out anything you want really.  But heres how you do it!

You will need:

*Scrabble pieces 


*Snow Tex

*Glue gun

How to make it:

*First simply lay out the letters you choose in the layout you want

*Then when your happy,  using the glue gun, glue together the letters.

*Leave them to sit until fully dry.

*Apply the snow tex to the ornament were you think best fits

*Using the hot glue gun, stick on the ribbon or sting so you can hang the ornament


This is a super easy ornament, and remember you can always use another christmas fraise that you love!




5.)  Merry and Bright Sign

This DIY is for the more artsy people out there.  I really love this DIY but I could never c7f1107581390acff1b0e11330aeb078actually make it and have it turn out good because I’m not that good at painting.  I got this off of Michaels, you can get everything you need there.

What you need:

*Wood Pallet Plaque

*Premium Gel Stain

*Aluminum Straight Edge Ruler

*DecoColor Glossy Oil Base Paint Marker, Extra Fine

*ArtMinds™ Foam Brush 


*Paper Towel

How To Do It:

*Brush white gel stain onto the wood pallet, one plank at a time. Apply a thick amount of stain to one plank and use a paper towel to wipe away excess and spread the stain lightly to the edges. Repeat this step on each plank of wood. Let dry.

*Use a ruler to mark the center of the sign. Write the saying lightly on the planks with a pencil.

*TIP: Type out the “Merry and Bright” saying on the computer and transfer it onto the wood sign using graphite paper.*

*Draw over the pencil lines of the words with a black paint pen. Let dry.

*Use a pencil to draw a strand of lights across the top and bottom of the sign.

*Color in the lights with paint pens. Let dry.

*Outline the lights and the strand of lights with a black paint pen. Let dry.



6.)  Joy Sign

I absolutely love this sign.  I want it, I need it, you can make it.  Let make some joy!bb67a00853390b218dfcc42f8f5f46ed

What You Need:

*two wood planks (one bigger than the other)

*red, white and black paint + paint brush + Foam Brush

*small reef



*wood glue

How to do It:

*First you paint the smaller wood plank white and red striped with the foam brush

*TIP:Use tape to make straight lines with the red and white stripes*

*As you let that plank dry cut the bigger plank into the shape of a border

*Once you have the shape of the border cut out, paint it all red using the paint brush or the  foam brush

*After both of those have dried, glue the border around the main board using wood glue

*Draw on the letter J at the top of the main board, and the letter Y at the bottom of the main board using a pencil and a ruler

*Paint the letters in with black paint

*Add the reef in the middle of the main board

I know I say this for every DIY but this one might be my favourite…  



7.)  Reindeer Ornament (Kids)

This ornament is one that you can do with your young kids, or if you are a kid first of all why are you on my blogce063061639ec6ff9a2f6ac72a0c16c7, and secondly go ahead a make this, with parential supervision.  But lets to the ornament.

What you need:

*Popsicle sticks(3 per reindeer)

*Hot Glue Gun

*Brown Paint + Paint Brush

*Red craft pom-poms

*Craft eyes

*Red Ribbon/string

How do you do it:

*First paint the popsicle sticks brown

*Warm up the glue gun and let those dry

*Once dry, glue the popsicle sticks together in the shape of a triangle, with little bit of the popsicle sticks at the top sticking out to make ears, if you don’t understand look to the photo to your right for guidence

*Then glue on the red pom-pom on to the nose of the reindeer, and the eyes on either side at the top of the reindeer

*Wait till they dry and then glue on the ribbon/string so you can hang the ornaments on your Christmas trees

This is a cute ornament that is easy to make and fun to do with your friends and family!
